Beyond helping to manage the Habakkuk’s Journey Performing Arts Center event needs, a venue management system provides a very important learning and career path opportunity for the young men of Habakkuk’s Journey- St. Louis. There is a well-known achievement gap between the socioeconomic classes in education and technology. There should be a means of closing that gap. Unfortunately, urban schools also face a digital divide, which furthers the achievement gap. Our goal is to aid the next Westly Studi or Tyler Perry discover their gifts.
As reported in The Digital Divide in the Age of the Connected Classroom, “According to a 2021 Pew Research study, only 54 percent of middle and high school teachers surveyed thought their students ‘have sufficient access to digital tools at school,’ and 84 percent said that ‘today’s digital technologies are leading to greater disparities between affluent and disadvantaged schools and school districts’.” Helping bridge that gap is critical. To that end, we intend to use the venue management platform to help our male population in diferent ways to further career pathing:
The event and venue management platform will help our young men to learn basic computer skills and also provide more advanced skills and logic. Through the process of managing events and the venue, our young men will be exposed to, and learn how to use the venue management platform. We will work with software teams and pave the way to provide an internship for our best and brightest so that they can take the next step toward a technology career. We will also work with other performing arts customers with the goal of providing additional opportunities in their venues. We have contacts with many PACs and theatres across the country and will be exploring opportunities to connect with their existing programs or even start new programs that enable our young men to transfer their learnings from the Habakkak’s Journey Performing Arts Center to performing arts careers.
